Born in 1952, Jim Jensen was a gangly free-range kid growing up just 17 miles south of San Francisco. As a self-conscious young man, he joined a gym to put on some bulk, changing his life forever. Exercising at the gym sparked a passion for learning the latest science on health, fitness, longevity, and aging.
Jim was working in Silicon Valley when the tech bubble burst in the early 2000s, leaving him unemployed and seeking a new path. Following his passion for health and fitness, he returned to school and started a fitness training company for people over 50. Jim traveled the peninsula with his dog, Romey, helping people live better, despite their physical challenges.
Jim also founded the Essential Boomer blog and podcast as vehicles to share his health knowledge with his fellow baby boomers.
Today, Jim loves spending time with his partner, Laura, and the rest of his family, including two extraordinary granddaughters. Together, they inspire Jim to continue adding as many healthy years as possible to his life.
