Dave Hydie is the personification of cool. Really…he looks cool, talks cool, plays cool music, and is a cool guy. Dave was gracious enough to allow me to use his music as The Essential Boomer’s official theme music. I think it’s perfect.
I work a couple nights a week at a small wine bar in downtown Palo Alto called Vino Locale. I’ve been a bartender/server there for 10 years now. It’s a small Victorian bungalow style house with an expansive back patio area. It’s a great place to come for a glass of wine and some good food.
Over the last several years Vino Locale has featured live music nightly and to my great fortune, Dave Hydie has performed regularly on one of the nights that I work. His southern blues, bottle-neck slide style takes me back to 1969 Winterland San Francisco. It never ceases to amaze me on the rare nights when there isn’t a packed patio. Don’t they know? Dave is playing tonight.
I plan on doing a podcast with Dave in the very near future. I’m sure that you will love him and his story as much as I do. Until then…
