I really am striving to provide us boomers with timely and valuable information that will empower, inspire and help my fellow boomers to navigate through the rapids of this whole aging thing.
In Episode 26 I’m going to take a look back at the first 6 months of the essential boomer and highlight some of the most important information and advice that I believe is truly essential for us boomers to know. If there is something here that is of value to you than I encourage you to go back and listen to the original podcast that it was taken from. I will provide links to all of the cuts.
One of the podcasts that seemed to be of great interest to a lot of you boomers was episode 20: How to avoid the 10 Worst Social Security Mistakes. I really learned a lot while putting this episode together. Here are some of the important links from this episode:

Physical fitness and it’s affect and relationship with your health is a pervasive theme throughout many of my podcasts. As you may know, I have been Certified Physical Trainer specializing in adaptive fitness for over 10 years, so this is home sweet home to me. The next cut is from episode #2: Discover the fountain of youth – Cardiovascular exercise. This is one of my earlier podcasts, though still one of my favorites I had a lot of fun putting this one together.
Over 10 years ago, I obtained a degree in adaptive fitness in a great program taught by Dr. Karl Knopf, one of the most prolific writers that I know and THE authority on boomer and senior fitness. In episode 12 titled: Dr. Karl Knopf – THE Authority on Boomer & Senior Fitness, I interviewed Dr. Karl, as we disciples call him. In this cut you will definitely get a taste of what it was like to attend his classes.

Back in episode 21 titled Male Menopause – Are You at Risk? I take on the unpleasant subject of male menopause. I did find out that this is a subject that definitely fits into that category of “if I don’t think about it or talk about it than maybe it won’t exist.” I did a talk on it at a local marketing group and I could almost hear all of the sphincters slam shut in unison when I told them subject of my talk. Here is a cut which addresses the good news that should be the big takeaway for all of us male boomers.

I few weeks ago, I did podcast #23: Hair Restoration – What Works, What Doesn’t and What’s Coming. In it I talk about the present state of hair loss and hair restoration and what us boomers can do about it. In doing the research I discovered a very disturbing issue that hasn’t really received much media coverage. Holy Cow. If you take Propecia or Finasteride, or know somebody that does than you definitely want to hear this.

In episode 24: How To Find Love After 50 – A Conversation With Sandy Weiner, I interview Sandy Weiner, the founder of Last First Date, a website devoted to empowering women over 40 to achieve healthy, lasting, loving relationships. Sandy is also an internationally known TEDx speaker, dating coach, blogger and workshop leader specializing in helping women date as the high value women that they are. She writes for many prestigious publications including the Huffington Post and The Good Men Project, and is the dating expert at Better after 50. You may have heard her as the host of Last First Date Radio, the acclaimed show about attracting and sustaining healthy relationships in midlife.
At the end of each interview I like to ask my guests if they have any final advice that they would like to share with their fellow boomers. Oftentimes their answers are golden. I included the parting advice of the following guests.
Way back in episode 4 I interviewed Wayne Holzkamp, my old roommate from college. Wayne lives up in Tigard, Oregon just south of Portland and is a big-time cycling enthusiast. I loved the interview. Wayne is very articulate and enthusiastic about life and his passion for cycling is truly addictive. I was ready to sign up for the first 100 mile ride I could find. He’s truly an essential boomer.
Diane Daniels, The expert on Medicare in episode 25 provides some excellent parting advice for us boomers.
Sandy Weiner, The love, dating and relationship expert from episode 24 provides some inspirational advice for us boomers looking for love.
Way back in episode 5, I was honored to have as my guest, the Reverend Karyn Bradley. In this touching interview, Karyn provides us with an intimate, personal look into her life as the minister of Unity Palo Alto and talks frankly about her beliefs, challenges, and the people who have influenced her the most.
I interviewed Greg Hargrove in episode 18. Greg is a very interesting guy. Professionally, Greg is a Managing Director with the Alliance of Chief Executives in Silicon Valley. Gregorio, as his friends call him is also a renaissance man in every sense of the word. He’s a musician, surfer and wine aficionado, though his poker skills still need a bit of honing. Greg gives us boomers some heartfelt advice and encouragement.
And last, but certainly not least, is the advice from Paul Zavagno to us boomers. Paul was my very first interview on my very first podcast. It is very fitting seeing that he was one of my very first and very best friends. I’ve known Paul for most of my life and have always admired his integrity, generosity, intelligence and compassion. Paul is a certified facilitator for the work of Byron Katie. His coaching website is isnessismybusiness.org. Check out his words of wisdom for us boomers.

And…I would be remiss not to give a big thanks to my favorite blues guitar player of all time, Mr. Dave Hydie for generously providing such a great intro and outro for each of my podcasts. I love you Dave, you da man.
So until next week. My name is Jim Jensen, Take it away dave!
