positive affirmations - file cabinet labelIn this episode, I throw down the gauntlet to all you boomers and honorary boomers to join me on a 30 day challenge to create and use your positive affirmations for at least 30 days. There are a lot of very smart and influential people that swear by them.
This list includes:
Mahatma Gandhi – “A man is but the product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes.”

Albert Einstein -” Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

Oprah Winfrey – “Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.”

Winston Churchill – “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”

Henry Ford  – “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.”

Henry Matisse – “There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”

Willie Nelson – “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”

Helen Keller – “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope or confidence.”

Dr. Joyce Brothers – “Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success.”

And….Buddha – ““All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

Here are some of the guidelines you may want to follow when creating your affirmations:

1 – When writing down an affirmation, many practitioners believe that it works best when you phrase it as though it is already manifesting in your life such as. Everyday, an abundance of money is manifesting in my life, instead of using the future tense of “an abundance of money will manifest in my life.” It’s a subtle but important difference, supposedly. So, avoid starting an affirmation with I will. Instead use, I am.

2 – You may end up with a huge list of affirmations. It is recommended by many experts that you condense them down to big, important affirmations. I’ve included an affirmation worksheet in the shownotes to help you do this. This worksheet will also help you to Craft your affirmations around negative beliefs that you have in yourself. Which takes us to my #3 recommendation

3 – Negative beliefs. You may have negative beliefs about your looks, relationships, jobs and money. What areas of your life do you want to become better? This is the time to do some soul searching…and don’t be afraid to think big! Don’t let limiting beliefs limit your affirmations. Think big and bold! No guts, no glory. These are your own personal affirmations. You don’t have to share them with anyone.

4 – With that said, you want to make your affirmations believable to yourself. You’ll know that you don’t believe the possibility of an affirmation coming true by the way it makes you feel when you repeat it. Does it sound impossible?  Than you may want to go back to #3 and work on your negative beliefs. Remember too, that your affirmations are a work in progress. You can make affirmations in steps so as to keep them believable to your subconscious.

5 – Keep affirmations positive! You don’t want an affirmation saying that I won’t eat junk, rather, craft your affirmation in a positive manner such as I choose to feed my body with healthy food.

6 – Personal development affirmations should be stated in the comparative – “I am confident” may not be as effective as “I am becoming more and more confident.” An even better affirmation might be “I choose to feel more and more confident.” The reason for using the comparative, is because there is no end to how much more confident you can become. Otherwise, your mind may think you are already confident enough, and it will not need to do any more work.

Be sure to leave your comments and experiences from joining me on the positive affirmation challenge. I’d love to hear how you’re doing! Just add your comments in the comments section below. If you have any questions than email me by clicking HERE.
